Conan the Barbarian (PS3) - First Impressions

I have been playing around with this game on and off. As much as I am enjoying playing NBA Street: Homecourt, I have felt like I haven’t really been using the PS3 as much as I have liked so I have been forcing myself to play Conan. Now, as a HUGE God of War fan I wouldn’t have thought it was that much of an effort, and with the new amounts of special moves I should enjoy it. But, the fact that it plays almost exactly like God of War is its drawback. The game itself has piles of baddies and bosses, and it gives Conan quite a few weapons at his disposal. However, it plays like the entire game was rushed. Conan is definately no Kratos. Kratos was a complete madman from the beginning, Conan’s character never really develops. The moves are quite brutal and the ‘limbs removed’ count is just delightful, but the game lacks depth.

I will most likely play this through though just to see the many ways of killing there are, but in God of War I was literally foaming at the mouth when I saw new enemies to kill just to see the move, but Conan seems to have a flaw by making them all die the same. It reminded me a lot of Mortal Kombat Armageddon, where the fighters can choose from a huge range of finishing moves, but they all wind up the same….

I will be putting a gameplay vid with some of the nice kills at some time so keep an eye out.
