So I finally got a 40-gig model PS3 from Gametraders. Sure it might not have the extra stuff like the 60 gig, but seriously, I am not bothered. My chipped PS2 is still running strong if I ever want to go back to those games(well I do play the old Mortal Kombats still) and I am sure the reduced HD and USB ports wont be that big an issue later on with docks and external hard drives. There was also rumor of sound quality being different, but I choose to raise the argument of ‘I wont ever have them both side by side so I wont be able to tell’. As a purchase, it is a lot less daunting a price tag than $1000 and you can shop around to get whatever type deal you are after but, if like me you were gonna get one regardless, just do it. It will set you back about $700 with a single controller, but people are dropping prices($30 or so). No bundle packs to speak of unless you go to a Gametraders. Well, because they are a franchise, I’d recommend the
Gametraders Perth store for WA gamers simply because they have a 2 game deal on.
The games I have bought are:
- NBA Street - Homecourt
- Conan
- Skate
I have downloaded a few, but the big winner here is NBA Street. Conan, I am actually dying to get into but I want to record some videos of it and I just havent had time. Skate, tends to give me motion sickness after a while. So NBA is just a great way to chill out for 10 mins. I was quite impressed, it reeks of old NBA Jam for consoles, and for those older gamers, the arcade machines, but it is a great alternative to the ‘realistic’ sports games out there. Having said that I have found a few more MK videos to put up soon, and there seems to still be interest so I will get back to that in time.
